A Moree Plains irrigator has been convicted, and will pay fines totalling $353,750, for knowingly taking water while a meter was not working and constructing a dam without approval.

State-wide results for July-December 2022 show more than half of alleged water law offences were for illegal water take or metering breaches, and an increase in NRAR’s compliance inspections.

NRAR officers conducted compliance checks on the Central Coast last week, providing guidance to help water users comply and equip them with the right information for their situation.
